I don't own GA or any of the characters, although McDreamy I wouldn't mind staking claim to. I'll return them all when I'm done messing with them. I promise. And for the purpose of the Fic, Meredith and Derek are together, and Addison is out of the picture.
Derek lay in bed, watching Meredith’s chest move up and down, rhythmically, with each breath she took. She looked peaceful, angelic, even. Inhaling deeply, Derek tried his best to stifle a sneeze, mentally cursing his and Meredith’s lack of housekeeping ability.
“Huh, what?” Meredith moaned, stirring slightly.
“Shhh, nothing. Go back to sleep,” Derek whispered back.
“Hmmm? Okay,” she mumbled, half-asleep. Sighing, Meredith moved closer to Derek and settled herself on his torso. He tried his best not to move as Meredith slipped back into sleep.
“What did I do to deserve a woman like Meredith?” Derek thought. “The saying ‘opposites attract’ must be true. I think things out and plan what I do and say, and Meredith, she, well, doesn’t. She ALWAYS speaks from her heart.” Laughing in spite of himself, Derek looked down at Meredith’s face, which was resting on his chest, and ran his fingers up her spine. Her back arched slightly, and a slight smile graced her face.
Derek glanced at the alarm clock on his nightstand. It was 11:55. Tonight was different. Oftentimes, he and Meredith didn’t get to bed until past midnight. Then there were the nights where he was alone in bed, and Meredith was working a night shift. Derek hated those nights the most. He and Meredith hadn’t been together for very long, but she already belonged in his home, in his bed, in his heart.
“I love you,” Derek murmured. “I love you, my midnight angel.”
